First...the school punishes a girl for wearing socks with Winnie the Pooh's good friend Tigger on them. She also had a denim skirt and a brown shirt with, Oh no!, a pink border.
The school's policy states students must wear clothes with "solid colors in blue, white, green, yellow, khaki, gray, brown and black. No denim is allowed."
Second...detention!
Third....The American Civil Liberties Union filed a suit against the wine drinking Napa Valley Unified School District. (This whole fiasco had to be in California. Where else?)
The premise for the law suit...."the dress policy goes too far and forces aesthetic conformity in the name of safety."
Safety!?
Fourth....Wearing Tigger socks is safe....for a fourteen year old? Since when did growing up happen so late?
Fifth...And, who is going to pay for this lawsuit against the school who is against Winnie the Pooh socks anyway?
And to think, my wife wonders why I want to get out of California.
Do you think it would be safe for a fourteen year old to wear a Mighty Mouse shirt?
