
The American Anthropological Association has an average membership of 10,000. The group mustered up their reserve to tell Coca Cola "no mas."
According to AAA, communities where Coca Cola Company operates is worse for having them.
1. Coca Cola has not been sufficiently proactive in protecting workers from intimidation and violence.
2. Internationally recognized right to organize unions have not been respected
3. Information disclosure has been inadequate and insufficiently verified by independent sources
So...pass the Pepsi, please.
And Coca Cola responded by going out to lunch.
How much difference can a group of anthropologists make against a large corporation like Coca Cola?
I am sure the profs are feeling pretty smug about their decision.
But, isn't there a better way to get action? What about dialogue? What about writing campaigns? What about getting the media involved?
