Ever wondered how much that guy up front who goes on and on and on is making?
How much is he getting paid to talk you to sleep?
What about that woman who talks about nothing but her kids?
And that TA that you can't really make out what s/he is saying, what is s/he getting?
And, what about benefits?
Where is that $15-25K in tuition I am paying going?
The National Center for Educational Statistics say the average salaries are like this:
On average:
Associate professors earned - $65.5K
Assistant professors earned - $55K
Instructors earned - $47.4K
Lecturers earned - $46K
The full report, “Employees in Postsecondary Institutions, Fall 2005, and Salaries of Full-Time Instructional Faculty, 2005-06,” contains tables listing, among other things, the numbers, gender, race, and rank of faculty and other staff members at the more than 6,000 colleges, universities, and other institutions that are eligible for Title IV student-aid programs."
So, the next logical question:
Is your professor worth it?
