A tenured assistant professor of economics and finance at Kean University has been accused of plagiarizing her doctoral dissertation.
Her father was found to have copied government documents into a book he published without citing the sources. Apparently that was legal at the time.
Somehow, it may have been legal, but it definitely wasn't right.
In my online class we talk about plagiarizing all the time. It happens...sometimes intentionally, and often by mistake.
There is a lot of he said, she said in the link above....but something I learned in Bible school a long time ago might apply. "Refrain from all appearances of evil." That doesn't mean we stop doing things wrong. I am sure that I have forgotten a link in my 3000+ posts. The point is, we do not see how close we can get to wrongdoing without it being wrong or without being caught...rather we get as far away from wrong as possible.
Apparently this family didn't go to Sunday school.
Have you ever plagiarized an assignment?
