100 Most Prolific Bloggers - What it means

Prolific ought to be done by word count, not blog or post count.

However, I wonder how many bloggers know their word count. I can guestimate mine, but I have no idea the exact number. Do you?

Longevity also should be considered...but someone could have been writing a blog a month for the past five years. I don't think that equates to prolific.

So...I went with post count. Most all bloggers have a record and can relatively easily determine the number of blogs they have posted.

That being said...I have posted the inaugural list of the 100 most prolific bloggers.

Did anybody count? There are only 74. That's because I am on the hunt for bloggers with more than 1000 posts and only 74 have come to the party. Is that really all there is that have 1000 posts or more. I hardly think so.

What about you? Do you have 1,000 or more posts? Do you know somebody who does? Ask them to contact me and tell me how many posts they have, when they started and any other pertinent info they'd like to provide.

Nominations don't count.

Of course, until all 68 million and growing bloggers registered at Technorati know that I am looking for them, there may never be a truly definitive list. Still, it's fun to try. And, I think it can be a great motivator to some who need a push to write, to contribute more, or just wants to know where they stand in the blogoshere with other like minded bloggers.

Bloggers who maintain more than one blog site should be considered. I am considering a category for bloggers with multiple blogs. Darren Rowse does more than the two he mentioned. I have three that total more than 1000 each and Colbert Low has three, each over 1000. This is prolific writing, I think. I am sure there are more such bloggers.

Tell me who you are. You can contact me via the comment section.

All that being said....

If you have ideas on how to make the list a better one, let me know in the comments here or email me at bill (at) bizofknowledge dot com.

If you come across a broken link, let me know and I'll fix it.

If I have made a mistake, don't yell or cuss at me, please. Just tell me, and I will fix that, too.

I will update the list, perhaps monthly or so, as bloggers send me their stats, and those on the list update theirs, and new people join.

In time, we may indeed find who is writing the most in the blogsphere...maybe it's you.

Blog on.

Give me a week or so and I'll hit 1,000 -- I'm at 933 right now. :)

Hey, happy to see the Ranablog on the list - she's a personal friend.

BUT, my current database at MissMeliss.com has 1315 posts in it, some going back to 2002 - and it's not even a complete database, as I lost a good chunk of the 2002-2003 posts.

I tried to reach you through bill (at) bizof knowledge dot com and also bill at thebizofknowledge dot com and both emails came back.

I am sure you've listed over 100 prolific bloggers by now but I'd love to be on the list! My blog, started in 2001, has 4,001 posts on it as of today. Many are long, some are short. I think I qualify. I'm at judith.livejournal.com.

My last post was #2077. I'm glad you're not going with word count - since I'm a visual artist I'd be easily come in dead last, about 50% of my entries are finished paintings and works in progress. :)

I started 2 days before 9/11, but those first posts are not retraceable on Zijperspace anymore. The counter says I've done 2593 posts. I've lost wordcount for ages; people said my posts were too long to read the whole texts, what if one should have to read (or count) all the words.
But yeah, I'm sorry, it's all in Dutch.

Nice idea!
I have 1149 posts on my primary blog of travels and travails, where I have been blogging since August 2004 and 628 posts on my second blog weaver where I have been blogging since July 2005. The numbers seem to be increasing at a faster pace with time. Blogging is simply too addictive.

I can't help but feel that like Technorati, this is an interesting but subjective ranking. I look at my one stats and available info. On www.ipadventures.com running WordPress there are 1530 posts right now. That's since converting from MovableType where I left 2507 posts in the dust. And that was a migration from Blogger, but I think I ported those into MT.

But then I blog at www.realtime-unifiedcommunications.com. Only 885 posts there. But it spawned from www.realtime-voip.com which also spawned realtime-voip.typepad.com. They're vanished into the wayback machine with somewhere around 1000-1500 posts between them.

Then there's kencamp.vox.com. A personal idle space really with only 250 or so posts. They don't provide a counter anywhere that I can spot an exact number. It's a throwaway in the larger scheme.

I've been blogging since 2000 and if you ask, I'd say I am not a prolific blogger by any means. And while I've been told I'm both a prolific blogger and writer, by my own internal standards, I don't think so.

What really caught my attention as I ran through the list is that i've been actively blogging almost daily longer than many people. And reading blogs just as long. Yet your list only held one or two I even recognized. That tells me I need to click some links and explore people I've been missing who have a lot to say. There's real value in that for me.

Thanks

Ken

I was the most prolific coCommenter for most of 2006, before I tired of blogging and the service’s bugs (which seemed to be introduced at update time). But I only seriously began blogging in 2005. Therefore (to favour myself!), my definition would have to take into account the period: e.g. the number of posts per year. I know that complicates things.

Dude, your email is jacked (see below).

Try BaneRants

Blogging since Sept 2002 and 5500+ posts.
