Top 6 Most Prolific Bloggers - 1000 posts or more - looking for the top 100

Technorati claims there are more than 68 million bloggers. I started wondering who among that group is adding the most content to the blogosphere.

I am launching a search for the 100 most prolific bloggers.

Who are you?

Where are you?

What do you write about?

And...how long have you been doing it?

The rules, simple for now, until they get more complicated.

1. It must be a blog.

2. It must be a legitimate blog...that adds content, any kind, to the blogosphere.

3. There must be 1,000 or more posts at ONE blog, not a total of 1,000 at two, three or more different blogs.

The search is on for the most prolific blogger. Is it you?

Here are 6 bloggers that have posted more than 1,000 posts at one blog that I know of.

1. Ellen Weber - BrainBasedBusiness

2. Gloria Gamat - PharmaGazette

3. Razib Ahmed - SouthAsiaBiz

4. Marshall Sponder - WebMetricsGuru

5. Darren Rowse - ProBlogger

6. Bill Belew (that's me!) - TheBizOfKnowledge

I know there must be people who have written more, but I don't know who you are.

Send me your blog title, a link, and post count. If it's over 1,000 posts, you will make the next list.

Anybody over 2,000, 5,000, 10,000?

The search is on....for the blogosphere's most prolific blogger.

I think thats a cool idea, its hard though with a lot of bloggers for me I've changed personal sites several times over the years but I've been blogging about 4x's as long as some of the people on the list :)

Bill, how kind of you to add my two-bits among your fine bloggers here! It humbles me especially to be listed because it was through your grace, Bill, that I started blogging in the first place.

In fact - until I met you and blogged once at your site by invitation -- I had no idea what a blog even was.

Hey, Bill, thanks to your own example, I find myself blogging into new meanings daily - and the blogging community you listed here have deeply impacted my own directions:-)

Stay blessed and keep bloggin' Bill! Thanks for encouraging me along the way!

I'm up to 3200+ on Problogger and around 4500 on my digital photography blog (http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/). Have a few others that are over 1000 but I'll leave it at that.

How should we contact you?

Hi Bill - great idea! I'd love to see a list of bloggers that have reached over 1K, especially the ones that are over 3,000 like Problogger.

I just broke 1,200 a few weeks ago at my site On the Baseline.

Hi Bill, what fun! I just posted my 1,846th entry this morning at Notes from an Eclectic Mind aka www.ranablog.com. Looking forward to following your results on this one.

YIKES!!! I've just looked and stand at 1,769.

If people enjoy writing about their subject this will come through in their writing and ensure a growing readership.

Which then creates a desire in you to help and flourish alongside your readers.

All the best

Craig

How do I send it to you? Is there an email address? Thanks :D

While I only have a few hundred on mine (so I'm ineligible), Alex at Neatorama has over 6,000. Pretty impressive.

Is there an easy way to count posts? I tried using "site:www.consultantjournal.com" and I got 541. But I wondered if there is another way.

Andrea, are you using Wordpress?

So, you might be a "prolific blogger" with 10 niche websites each with 950 posts on, but by the rules you're not prolific? Interesting logic.

Kineda - Men's Lifestyle and Entertainment

Just checked, and I have over 1700+ posts currently. :)

Kineda has been around since 1997, but I didn't move to a blog platform until two years ago.

I'm only at a little over 700 at my current address but many music blogs are well over the 1000 you're interested in. Take an afternoon and check out some greats such as Chromewaves.net (who is essentially the Cal Ripken Jr of music blogs) or Marathonpacks.com or maybe even my site

1. It must be a blog.

Yep. It's on blogger. www.mydomesticchurch.blogspot.com

2. It must be a legitimate blog...that adds content, any kind, to the blogosphere.

It does. Almost everyday.

3. There must be 1,000 or more posts at ONE blog, not a total of 1,000 at two, three or more different blogs.

As of today 2810 posts.

The search is on for the most prolific blogger. Is it you?

Probably not, but still it was interesting to see how may posts I really had. Thanks

I don't yet qualify for the prolific blogger award, but I wanted to say hello and compliment your blog! I stumbled upon it through problogger, and it's a great resource!

Hi Bill, I blog productivity tips and lifehacks content at Lifehack.org for nearly 2 years now. At the moment, Feedburner reports around 30,000 subscribers daily. Along side with lifehack.org's editors/contributors, we hit 2400+ posts milestone and climbing fast - average per day is around 6-9 posts.

Well, http://PetLvr.com/blog/ has just under 2400 posts .. but, about 30,000 less subscribers than Lifehacker .. :)

I would love to participate in it...seems so fun...but actually I've got only 109 posts on my blog :( I will have to keep up until adding a 4th figure at the end.

Nice initiative though.

Interesting that you rate post count rather than lengh of time blogging - I suppose someone could churn out post after post and make the list but what about quality content :-)

I only have around 700 posts but have been blogging for a few years - my claim to fame is that I have the first and most long running fly fishing blog !

Alistair

I nominate Seth Godin and Steve Pavlina!

As of this writing, I'm at 3,044 posts. I plan on tacking on one more post before this night ends, so the count keeps ticking!

Considering that I intentionally avoid any single-topic focus, the one rule I stick to is posting at least once per day, and typically more like 2-3 posts minimum, 7 days per weeks. Aside from a couple of lengthy gaps, I've kept that up. So there.

"Prolific" is absolutely not the correct word to describe what you're trying to capture, but the thought is interesting.

No offense to those listed, but I'm happy to read sites that post infrequently so long as the entries are interesting. I could care less about the play-by-play of someone brushing their teeth three times a day.

Volume does not necessarily equal quality (in this case or any other, for that matter).

As of March 4, 02007, I have 1,877 posts on my Ten Thousand Year Blog (the WordPress version, which I started in June 02003). I started with the Radio blogging platform in July 02002 and quit using it in July 02003. Unfortunately, I have not idea how many posts I made with the Radio software. That blog's still accessible at http://radio.weblogs.com/0110793/

Interesting idea. I've close to 1200 posts on my main blog:
http://www.mneylon.com/blog/

My main blog (above) is at post 1303, with about 50 of that representing unfinished drafts and deleted posts - my two most prolific categories the last month or so! I try to focus on original opinion pieces as opposed to links and one-liners. Lately I just haven't seen much worth writing about. Anna Nicole Smith - still dead!

I have several other blogs with about twice that number of posts in total.

I opened Ramblings of Silver Blue in June 2003. I currently have 6,903 posts and rising.

at the moment 2408 posts about healthcare, diseases, psycholgy, wellness etc.

Who am I? Les Bessant
Where am I? North-east England
What do I write about? Currently 1,877 posts: a mixture of reviews, muttering and recording weight loss (or not). Anything that crosses my mind at the time. Rarely even remotely serious.
How long have I been doing it? A little over three years.

I've got well over 1600 posts on my WordPress-powered blog, but before WordPress I handcoded (and some of the archives are available, it's hard work re-formatting static posts!). There should be well over 1000 posts there, too.

I've been posting since mid-2001, and it's a personal site. It does tend to chronicle my moves from Singapore -> China -> Scotland.

You may want to do posts/day or something to define "prolific." Otherwise, the list is going to be all people like Kottke, who's been posting more-or-less daily since 3/14/98. That's almost 3300 days ago. Friday, he posted 11 times. That's a lot of posts. Glenn Reynolds has done 10-20 posts a day for 5 1/2 years. He's got to be above 20,000 by now.

10,056

I've been blogging on bostonsportsmedia.com since 2002, and have 2301 posts as of today.

They're all Boston sports and media related.

I think thats the wrong question. Rather in terms of content one should be asking, who many words has been posted on your blogs ?? There are those who post a single and thats adds one to the equation, however there are those who write para's/chapters with 1000 of words and that still equates to one count. thats unfair correct ?? :)-

publisher /writers normally plug a book /story by words.. and I think thats the fair measure for bloggers too !!

I'm at 1708 as of today ;-)

I'm at around 3200 posts in just under 2 years on Balding Blog -- www.baldingblog.com

I have over 2,900 posts. My site covers a lot of ground, and is really just a collection of links to stories I find interesting, and my very brief commentary on them. I have 8380 entries in my online diaries, dating back to June 1996. But only 4.000 of them are actual blog posts, the rest are manually updated HTML entries. Believe it or not, I miss those good old days...

I'm a bit proud of another of the blogs I work with, a popular humor site which has got 30.000 comments for 1.200 entries in less than one year. Already the single most popular blog in Sweden, perhaps one of the most content-rich in a few years as well? :)

I couldn't find an e-mail address, so I'm leaving a comment. Amanita.net has 3,751 posts dating back to March 2001, though I didn't start blogging regularly until July 2001. I have posted at least once a day since April 2004, with about five missed days in the nearly three years since then.

This is an interesting idea, putting aside what qualifies a blogger as actually being prolific -- that whole quantity versus quality argument.

I've been blogging at CityCynic.com: The life of a New Yorker who doesn't know when to quit!, my personal website since 2000.

I just took a look and I have posted 3672 total posts about NYC, life, media, journalism, celebrities, and politics through a couple different blog publishing platforms (Blogger --> Wordpress).

Its interesting to see the other bloggers who have been posting in large quantity and on a lot of different subjects. I'll be stopping be each one to see what's going on... :)

On researcher.se (swedish blog about advertising): currently 3,392 posts and 2,531 comments, contained within 51 categories since Jan '03. On my personal blog deepedition.com currently 1,539 post and 6,041 comments, contained within 35 categories since april '06.

Stats for my blog Beta Alfa (also in swedish) about media and the blogosphere:

3,506 posts since the start 1 Jan 2006.

There are 42895 posts on Adland (the commercial archive)
38638 of those posts are commercials, so lets not count those as posts. That leaves 4244 blogs posts (text) of which 2063 are posted by me.

Ah...how time flies and how you point me to the fact what an utter loser nerd I am :)

I just wanted to add 1) post 7282 will be about "the most prolific blogger" where I will point you to an excellent source for bloggers way over 7282 postings and 2) There is discussion but I could well have the oldest still running weblog in the Netherlands, which is also pretty cool and ofcourse pretty sad ( the discussion is IF Risk bloggings (about the game risk) are actually real blogpostings or if they are not regarded blogpostings). Whatever. I will try to write a blog about it in an hour or so.

Maybe we could start the "more than 7500 blogpostings Blogger Social Network" ?
