The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has filed a suit against the Department of Homeland Security.
Apparently there is only one guy in 6.5 billion who can work as an assistant professor in history and ethnic studies for UNL and he happens to live in Bolivia.
Homeland Security, for whatever reason, has rejected or been delaying his visa application for about two years...not uncommon for lots of people since 9-11.
I can imagine all the students who have graduated from UNL during the wait totally downtrodden for not being able to take his classes in Latin American indigenous communities.
No doubt, some students are asking for their money back.
Doesn't UNL have better ways to spend their money than fighting with Homeland Security? Aren't there other recourses of action other than padding the pockets of lawyers?
It's tough to get a visa....and there is a lot of red tape, I know.
But...lawsuits? Shame on UNL.
Do you know anyone who hasn't been able to study in the US because of a delay or refusal to get a visa?
