Teacher union reps in 12 counties told their groups to go on strike today hoping to pressure the governor to call a special legislation session to address low pay.
High school and middle school teachers walked....elementary school teachers went to work.
The kids got to stay home and watch judge Judy, txt msg each other, and otherwise enjoy the off day as well as learn that when they don't get their way, just walk alway, pout, hold up a sign, force your hand until someone listens.
There is something wrong with a school system, a company, too for that matter, if the situation has to come to a strike. It is wrong even moreso when our kids our
watching.
Why can't people talk? Why can't they come to an agreement?
Indeed what signal did this walkout send to the kids who attend those schools?

'We're 55th of all 55 counties because we lost our levy,' Gayle Allen, president of the Hampshire County WVEA, said."
I'd say that's a good reason to strike. Teachers need to make money too. It's either a strike or they quit and get employment elsewhere.
