Congressmen and women have their underwear all tied in knots over the development....GM, Ford, Chrysler are laying off workers. Why should we let Toyota continue to expand...the yen in undervalued....blah, blah, blah...
Maybe, just maybe, all those workers being laid off could go to work for a Japanese carmaker.
After all, Toyota is committed to its customers...something the Big Three seem to have missed out on.
Toyota and Honda are committed to fuel efficiency...something the Big Three don't have a clue about.
One member of congress said, "you can't swing a dead cat in the parking lot (on Capitol Hill) without hitting a Toyota or Honda or a Mitsubishi. I don't believe it's a political problem." Yea...it's not a political problem. America's Big Three isn't making the cars America wants.
The Camry is America's number one selling car. Toyota sales were up 12% in the U.S. in February. Prius sales were up 86%. Toyota is committed to making the cars that America wants in America.
But what struck me as particular insightful words of wisdumb, were from a congressman who grew up near Detroit "you did not consider buying a foreign car. Now I think the attitude of America has changed."
He THINKS the attitudes have changed. He doesn't KNOW??? And he wonders why the Big Three are having trouble....
Go figure.
