China has a week-long holiday beginning on May 1st.
The thinking is that accidents are more likely to happen when there are fewer teachers and students on campus.
If a crime occurs on campus...China says they will hold school officials accountable. Not a bad idea, eh?
Crimes at primary and middle schools decreased 19.7% in China from '05 to '06. But in a rare confessions of weakness the government also said there were 43 students killed in criminal acts in China in the first nine months of last year.
In one such attack, a 19-year old villager locked himself in a room with 21 kindergartener and set fire, the burning kind, killing three and injuring 14 others.
Is there a way to keep our campuses safe from would be criminals?
