She had met a 28-year old Japanese fellow just a few days prior to her death. It seems he wanted more than to learn to speak English. He may be the one who wanted her life.
Security cameras show him with her in coffee shop on the day of her death and just before her body was recovered. He has already alluded several police officers and a manhunt is underway.
Back home she was remembered as a woman who was "outgoing" and the "life-and-soul" of any party, compassionate towards others, hard-working and
intelligent student who helped with community projects and taught disabled children to swim."Her long time boyfriend said, "She loved being in Japan much more than she anticipated. She made friends from all over the world. She said that on the surface the people there were different, but when you got to know them, they were all the same."
Underneath some people are different, too.
How sad to lose such a wonderful ambassador from the United Kingdom to Japan.

In my 20 years...never...ever...except that time I met a yakuza. He was driving his car and coming at me on the wrong side of the street. I stopped...he stopped... He got out of his car and walked toward mine. He guttered something and then went back to his car.
We waited ... a long time. I wasn't in a hurry and I had the right away.
He finally backed out.
Perhaps I should have been scared.
