I guess that means the kids can write whatever they want and not judge or censor it as long as it does NOT incude "shooting everyone" and having "sex with the dead bodies."
The English teacher and school officials found the 18-year old senior's writing so alarming that they turned it over to police who arrested him.
The essay: "Blood, sex and booze. Drugs, drugs, drugs are fun. Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, s ... t ... a ... b ..., puke. So I had this dream last night where I went into a building, pulled out two P90s and started shooting everyone, then had sex with the dead bodies. Well, not really, but it would be funny if I did." And...."as a teacher, don't be surprised on inspiring the first CG shooting."
Lee is an Asian-American....and police wanted to know if the Virginia Tech massacre had anything to do with his writing.
Lee said: "I had no influences outside the class."
A friend and also wannabe-Marine of Lee provided a reporter with a copy of the assignment:
"write non-stop for a set period of time. Do not make corrections as you write. Keep writing, even if you have to write something like, 'I don't know what to write.'
Just don't write about things that are too sensitive and too timely.
Did this student cross the line in his free-writing assignment? Such that he should be arrested?
I don't think so.
