A group in Japan at Tokyo University has broken the Internet2 Speed record - twice in two days.
Over the high-speed Internet2 network the group sent data over a 20,000 mile route , Tokyo-Chicago-Amsterdam-Seattle-Tokyo at 9.08 Gbps.
The previous record was 6.96Gps set in November '05.
Better yet, the consortium is planning on building a new network capable of 100 Gbps...meaning a high-quality version of a movie like "the Matrix" could be downloaded in a matter of seconds as opposed to a couple of days on the current typical home broadband line.
Stop drooling....it's not here yet.
But, it's coming and Japan is helping to lead the charge.
What would you like to download at 100 Gbps?
