Educators have their underwear in a knot because YouTube will NOT take on a "social responsibility and moral obligation" to stop the online harassment of teachers.
A government minister continues, "The online harassment of teachers is causing some to consider leaving the profession because of the defamation and humiliation they are forced to suffer."
Uh...NOooo! ![]()
Google and YouTube do NOT have a social responsibility to tackle cyberbullies. They are not my mommy or my daddy. They are not the police...and, if money, viewers, and advertising are their gods, how could anybody possibly expect them to show level-headed judgement?
It's the posters to YouTube that have a social responsibility. It's the teachers who are doing things that would be humiliating if recorded and posted on Youtube that have a social responsibility. Don't do stupid things and there is no worry about humiliation!
Why would any educator, make that anybody, want someone to take responsibility to lord over them what they can or cannot say or view?
Nope, don't buy it.
Let the educator take control of his/her own classroom!
I am a freedom of expression guy. Freedom of expression with responsibility taken by the expressers....
Do you want someone to tell you what you can and can't say, can and can't watch?
Here's an example of a stone professor who does just fine at humilating himself.
