Covering the business of education and training

The 10 campus University of California public school system is supposed to be one of the best.

UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UCLA...and so on.

So, why did 45% of UC Berkely students say they had an "emotional problematic experience that affected their wellbeing and academic performance?"

Why did 10% of the same say they had "seriously contemplated suicide?" One in 10!!??

Why has the numer of students seeking counseling at UC Santa Barbara increase 10-fold in 10 years?

Why have nine students committed suicide in the past three years at UC Davis?

1. Students come to university ALREADY under treatment for mental illness. 10 years ago that same student who couldn't have handled student life is now on campus.

2. 25% of students who seek counseling are already on psychotropic medication...being treated for depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

3. Students on their own begin to wonder what it would be like to be independent of their medication, too.

4. Not enough counseling staff to handle those already on the edge....UC has one psychologist for every 2,300 students.

5. Boomer generation parents are finding their laid back approach to raising kids didn't prepare their kids for the stress of competing in school. Everybody does NOT get the best grade and is NOT the teacher's favorite. You don't study, you do fail.
