A doctor at a Gastroenterology Clinic in Taiwan is saying that he has debunked yet another quick way to lose weight.

A fad diet popularized by a pop singer from Japan, Utada Hikari, involved eating hot chili peppers.

1. Chili peppers do NOT work. In order to have an effect on a person's metabolism, massive amounts are necessary, such that the stomach and intestines couldn't handle it. Consumption might cause diarrhea and damage to the stomach lining.

Other food myths that don't work

2. Apples do not help a person lose weight.

3. Seaweed jello doesn't work (if that's all there were to eat, I'd lose weight.)

4. Undiluted lemon juice doesn't work

5. Yogurt drinks taste good....because of the sweetened calories = don't work.

The doc in Taiwan says, "No one miracle item is going to make you slim," he said. "Only lifestyle changes can do that in the long run."
