The previous record was held by a 20-year old British climber, Rhys Miles Jones.
She climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa when she was 12...then when on to climb the other six summits, completing the chore on May 17th when she came down Mt. Everest with her 51-year old father.
Everest was "much harder, longer and higher" than the other peaks, she said.
Having finished high school in 2006, she considers...what next?
She will attend Stanford University this fall. And, to be sure, many of the character lessons she learned on the mountains will serve her well for the next 6 years or so.
I have climbed a few mountains...nothing on the scale of Mt. Everest, of course. The lessons I learned on those climbs and other physical challenges have served me well when I thought I was facing a difficulty in my daily live.
Something tells me this young lady is going to think scaling a peak was a piece of cake compared to getting her four year degree or masters degree from a place like Stanford.
What's the most important 'life lesson' you have ever learned on a physical endeavor?
