University of Colorado ethnic-studies professor has been accused of plagiarizing, fabricating and falsifying material in his research and writing.
All of these are good reasons to bounce students out of class.
However, enter a lawyer for the accused.
Blah...blah...blah...
The committee reviewing the misconduct case has recommended a one-year suspension rather than dismissal.
That Privilege and Tenure Committee then sent their report to the CU president...who has 15 days to consider the case.![]()
He can advise firing the defendant, closing the case or some other punishment...but NOT termination.
If the prez agrees to something short of firing...case is closed.
If the prez wants to get rid of the cheater and the committee disagrees...back to work for the accused and the committee rethinks.
If the prez still wants to fire him after that....a private board hearing would be called.
And...we wonder why eductors want to tenure so much...once they get it, they have a job that it becomes quite difficult to lose.
