Lo-Carb, Hi-protein Diets Lead to Increase in Total Mortality
The European Journal of Clinical Nutrition has reached the conclusion that "Prolonged consumption of diets low in carbohydrates and high in protein is associated with an increase in total mortality."

They studied the eating habits of 22,944 healthy adults in Greece over 11 years and assessed their mortality through a validated questionnaire.

Well...I guess I am in trouble.

I have been on a lo-carb diet for about three weeks...lost 18lbs and am starting to feel better...though a bit tire of eggs and meat.lo-carb.diet.gif

But, I wonder how much permanent damage I have done and if I have time to mend my ways, turn things around....oh, and definitely not consider moving to Greece.

Question: will anyone ever decide on what the best diet is? ever?

How do you balance your diet?

I'm vegan, my diet is probably almost totally carbs and I don't worry about it. I sometimes eat alot of soy but I'm 46 and in good health. I do not have a weight problem and because my job is physical i get lots of exercise. I sometimes fast for a week or more up to a month. I do that whenever I feel like I need to. I don't own a car and walk alot. I think hi protein diets are bad for your health and certain bad for the planet
