
The One Laptop Per Child founders are planning to raise the price of one unit from $100 to $175.
Seven nations have expressed interest in buying the the little green-and-white XO computers:
1. Uruguay
2. Argentina
3. Brazil![]()
4. Pakistan
5. Thailand
6. Nigeria
7. Libya
but none of them have put up any cash yet.
An order for 3 million machines is what is needed to get the project rolling.
Rising nickel prices are the reason for the rise in costs. However, once/when/if production begins, prices will start dropping again.
Citibank has agreed on a pro bono payment system.
All OLPC needs is its first customer.
