The gist - "The same virus that causes cervical cancer increases the risk of throat cancer for both men and women engaging in oral sex."
I guess lots of boys and girls, men and women, will be having less fun this weekend IF they can read.
"The research suggests that unprotected oral sex is a major reason people are
contracting throat cancer -- not just smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, as previously believed."
The risk is still low, however, says the senior author of the study.
Uh...how low does a risk of cancer need to be before you will disregard it is the question?
The author said, "People should be reassured that oropharyngeal cancer is relatively uncommon, and the overwhelming majority of people with an oral HPV infection probably will not get throat cancer."
I guess the fun is back on....for most.
