Based on current spending trends, California will be spending more on putting and keeping the bad guys in jail than on educating student in its public institutions.
I read once that it costs more to send someone to the state pen than to Penn State.
Maybe when the bad guy stands before the judge his/her punishment should be to learn to write...get their butt back in school and stay there until they can add.
Instead, California is planning to add $7.4 billion to the current $10 billion budget to build 40,000 new prison beds.
One assemblyman in Orange says..."The department is a shambles. They couldn't build their way out of a paper bag. Everyone has a reason to be skeptical. Everyone is holding their breath, hoping that this time they're successful."
And still they throw money at them. Insanity---doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I know the answer...put the budget writers in jail and let them learn firsthand what needs to be done.
After all, it is a crime to spend more money on the bad than the good.
what's that saying about a squeaky wheel?
