Virginia Tech has received 5,215 deposits from new incoming freshmen, more than the target goal of 5,000 and ahead of the 5,185 deposits received this time last year.

The waiting list was not tapped into.

Next year's students had a 3.77 gpa in high school, up from 3.74 for last year's frosh.

SAT scores were also up to 1205 from 1201 last year.

44.6 will be female, 75.3% Caucasian, 8.7% Asian (up from 8%), 3.5% Black, 3.2% Hispanic and less than 1% Native American.
