There are two problems university students face everywhere.
And China is no different.
1. Students have trouble paying back their student loans. Law suits are being filed against students who don't pay up. Lenders are trying to figure out why some students don't pay them back. A lawyer is calling on university students to be
"seriously" responsible for their loans. Like...they do NOT want to pay them back.
There's a reason.
2. Graduates don't have practical training. Students get degrees, but they don't know what to do with them. And the employers don't know what to do with the students. In short, a math or psyche or literature degree doesn't present any practical value to an employer.
More students are going to university in China - 1.08 million graduated in 1998. 4.13 million graduated in 2006. Nearly 5 million will graduate this year.
The difference will be whether or not a grad can provide any immediate practical value to a prospective employer. That student will get the job AND pay back their student loans.
Some things are the same everywhere.
