
530 people submitted essays and four received $500 and an all-expenses paid trip to New York Mills, a small farming town of 1,200 people about 170 miles from Minneapolis to debate the question: "Which should you trust more -- your head or your heart?"
In the end, a musician and arts administrator from Minneapolis beat out an Episcopal priest by arguing for the heart. The priest interestingly went for the head.

Last year - cpntestants debated "Which is more valuable to society: safety or freedom?"
A famous philosopher? An award winning mathematician? An astrophysicist? A monk?
None of these are a America's greatest thinker this year. It's the guy with the music score.
