
To be sure, the colleges and research institutes of the world will have their hands out and all the i's dotted and t's crossed in their grant proposals at the G-8 Summit.
Members of the Group of Eight nations are planning to unveil their commitments to spend more to fight HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Bush set the stage by asking Congress for a $30 billion, five-year extension of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
"UNAIDS estimates indicate that global funding for HIV/AIDS efforts will increase to about $10 billion in 2007 from about $8.9 billion last year. The agency said that $18.1 billion is needed to fight HIV/AIDS this year, and it estimates that about $22.1 billion will be needed to fight the pandemic in 2008."![]()
Germany, for its part will spend about 400 euros ($536.8 million) to fight HIV/AIDs in 2007.
Question is: What are the other six countries planning to commit?
