
The number of primary and middle school students learning Chinese in the United States has grown from 33,000 in 2002 to 50,000 in 2006 says the U.S.-based Society of Modern Language Research.
At an exchange program on Chinese language teaching, some 1,000 primary and middle school principals from the U.S. and ROK said they were interested in adding Chinese lessons to their school studies.
The Office of Chinese Language Council International sponsored a visit of 400 U.S. principals and 110 British headmasters; most of them signed agreements with Chinese counterparts.![]()
The same office says there are about 30 million people learning Chinese in the world, not counting
the Chinese, and predicts there will be about 100 million by 2010.Need a job? How about learning Chinese and then how to teach it?
