
Thirty years ago, minority students made up 22% of the public school enrollments in the United States.
The percentage now - 42%.
In the West, Hispanics, Blacks and Asians already outnumber whites and have so for the past 3+ years.
The largest portion of minority students is Hispanic, making 20% of the entire study body. Thirty years ago, Hispanics made up just 6% of the public school enrollment.
African-American enrollment changed from 14.8% in 1972 to 15.6% in 2005.![]()
Whites decreased from 78% in '72 to 58% n '05.
The midwest is still the whitest region with 74% of students being white.
That being the case, there has to be a lot of schools elsewhere with a small percentage of whites to make the bring the overall percentage down to 58%, no?
The largest percentage of blacks was in the South - 24%.
In the West - whites made up just 46%, Hispanics - 37%, Asians and Black - 5% each.
The greying of America....not as far away as it used to be, is it?
