The NCAA says their policy is to not allow "live representation of the game" and that blogs are prohibited.
"Any reference to game action in a blog or other type of coverage could result in revocation of credentials," says the policy according to AP via CNNSI.
The blogger, no matter he was a writer for The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal, was approached by an NCAA rep in the bottom of the fifth inning of Louisville's super regional games against Oklahoma State and told to leave, his credentials revoked.![]()
He had blogged in two previous games.
Other bloggers have done so during Bowl Games and the NCAA basketball tourney.
The NCAA says "Essentially, we enforce the policy when we learn of violations. So the fact that he may have blogged at a championship before really has no effect on the policy."
Good thing the NCAA didn't know I blogged during the conference swim championships, eh?
Is it a first amendment violation?
If the blogger were a dad sitting on the sideline, would it be okay?
The Courier-Journal Editor said "This (blogging) is part of the evolution of how we present the news to our readers. It's what we do."
Yeah...blogging is what we do. This story will be fun to watch.
