There's a new magic pill...Alli or, Orlistat, it's real name, that is supposed to hit the market.
It's the newly-approved and over-the-counter version of Xenical.
Taken with each meal, the pill will help control the amount of fat that is absorbed by the body.
Does it work?
A University of Kentucky College of Medicine Metabolic Research Group did a 16 week study comparing participants who were mildly to moderately overweight who took either 60 mg of Alli vs. placebo.
"Our research showed that people taking orlistat and following low-fat diets lost almost five percent of their initial body weight, about seven to 15 pounds, over four months,"
Side effects - "gas, bloating, an oily discharge, loose stools or bowel urgency, diarrhea, stomach pain, and nausea, among others."
When the directions are NOT followed - Some people would have accidents.
Is it worth the risk of soiling your pants?
Take the survey to see what others think.
