A University of Colorado at Denver professor has taught a course on "fiscal misconduct" by demonstrating to his students, his peers, the administration and the government how to misappropriate federal grant money.
The professor who "ran the Institute for International Business, misused $257,000 of UCD resources "for personal gain" and diverted $12,000 to cover overseas travel costs unrelated to business, the audit found."
The prof traveled to Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Belize, China.
The prof repaid the money out of his own pocket as part of a settlement and was allowed to retire with normal benefits.![]()
Let's see....steal...pay it back...and let it go. Doesn't
seem right to me.The audit also revealed that delegates of the university went on a 2006 trip to India where only 4 of 16 days was spent on business. The other 12 days were spent on safaris, elephant rides and tours of palaces.
"Culture...you gotta understand the culture" said the delegates, "in order to be able to conduct business."
It seems to me like UCD profs need to take a refresher course in business ethics.
