This will surely make this boy's mom and dad proud.
As the school year winds down here in the U.S. Japan is in full swing...the school year begins in April.
120 some people gathered to see who could throw clams the farthest using a pair of chopsticks. (Who comes up with these ideas, anyway?)
The clams were about 10cm (4") long and were tossed using a regular pair of chopsticks.
The winning distance was achieved by a 20-year old university student- 26.95 meters (90')....and a scholarship. (yeah, right?! on that last point)![]()
It reminds me of an American friend of mine who grew up in Japan. He was also quite good at using chopsticks. One day, Japanese friends were praising him. He picked up a french fry and threw it in the air. Then caught it. When friends asked him to do it again, he declined. On the way home, I asked him why he wouldn't perform the stunt again.
"That's the only time in my life I have ever done it," he answered back.
What's one thing you have been able to do but never repeat?
