Sweating is a good thing...for kids, too.
We all ought to be so busy enjoying life, playing that we just sweat all the bad stuff out.
But what happens when the little one starts to overheat?
1. Recognize the difference between heat stroke and heat exhaustion. If s/he is sweating, it's a good thing. Just getting hotter by the minute and the body is not helping to cool things down, there may be a problem.![]()
2. Head for the air-conditioned room. Stay there until s/he cools off. Use cool compresses if necessary. Give
them a cold shower.3. Drink...drink...drink...water is best. Gatorade is good. Try eight ounces and then let them sip until they are satisfied....but NOT soda.
4. Call the doc or head for the ER if the child's temp heads north of 100, 101...105!
But...don't forget to let them play.
If a kid is drinking water, running hard and sweating profusely...the only thing that may need fixing is an overactive washing machine. And that's good.

Thank you for this great post!!
I often wondered about this. As a child I used to get Heat Stroke often. I remember how sick I would get. As a mother I often wondered if my children were "overheated" or simply "just sweating". Thank you for letting me know the signs of a child being overheated and what to do if this happens.
