I don't know if mom and dad knew about these steps or not. I can remember being stung and everyone laughing as I hopped around, flicking and flinging my hands or whichever body part got stung.
However, getting stung by a bee is not a laughing matter...usually.
What to do if your kid finds himself on the wrong end of a bumble bee.
The following treatments might work;
1. Meat tenderizer and water applied with cotton will neutralize the venom. Antiperspirant can, too....says Parents magazine.![]()
2. Ice and/or cold water and a child's dose of ibuprofent will ease the pain.
3. OTC antihistamine will help with
the itch.4. In the 3% of kids who have allergic reactions...call the doc immediately.
5. Call 911 if the bee flew into his/her mouth, can't breate or swallow and vomits, develops dizziness, headaches, cramps, fever, diarrhea....okay...head for the ER, now!
And while you are your way, tell them about how wonderful bumblebees are...wings are too small to support their big bodies. Scientifically impossible to fly...but they don't know it and do it anyway.
We can do a lot if we do NOT know we canNOT.
