An 88-year old man finally received the Eagle Scout award that he earned more than 70 years ago.
Walter Hart earned 23 of 120 merit badges in 1923. 21 badges are needed to achieve Eagle Scout.
However, in between the time he was to receive his reward and completing the requirements, he went off to war....the US Navy.
He rediscovered his old Boy Scout memorabilia last year while rooting through old
stuff. In it were the documents he needed proving he had met all the requirements.
More importantly, believing you are NEVER too old to finish what you started, the young fellow with his daughter's
prodding contacted the Boy Scouts. He then became one of the 5% and 1.9 million recipients of award.
I hope that when I am 88-years old, (I hope I live that long) that I can look back and say I finished everything that I started.
How about you? What's on your plate that needs finishing up?

Well, this is a generally feel-good story. I am on the local Boy Scout Council Exec. Board (and an Eagle Scout) and this is just the kind of story that warms my heart. Good for BSA for honoring the commitment to Eagles and to this new Eagle for finishing the requirements.
