It's not Barbara Morgan's fault that officials at NASA can't spell.
She was a teacher, 22 years ago. Now she's an astronaunt, full-fledged.
But, she's got to be thinking about how to get her students - the officials at NASA - to pay more attention to detail, starting with spelling.
It's the little things that go wrong that can bring down a great, um, endeavor.
Ben Franklin - small leaks can sink a great ship, or something like that.![]()
The Space Shuttle's name is spelled with a "u" - Endeavour, after the first ship commanded by the 18th century Brit, James Cook.
However, when officials but up a banner to welcome the spacecraft - the banner read
"Go Endeavor"
Uh...if the officials can't get the banner right, you wonder what other small details have been overlooked...or at least I do. Does this give anyone else the jitters besides me?
The banner was replaced 90 minutes later....
August 7th is liftoff.

>Does this give anyone else the jitters besides me?
No.
If NASA wasn't paying attention to recent changes in the manufacturing of o-rings, then yes -- I'd have jitters.
I would much rather see them worrying about the important stuff.
