Some fool and his gang at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri has concluded that humans started walking upright in order to save energy....making humans the original 'green machines.'
The researcher and his crew of monkeys analyzed human and chimp biomechanics.
Their chimps were taught to walk bipedally.
Masks were put on the chimps and human volunteers...and when the researchers couldn't tell if their subject was a monkey or a man, they used the masks interchangeably and the data results, too.![]()
The results - a 110 lb human used roughly 13 kcals to walk a kilometer.
The chimp used 50kcal to walk the same distance on two feet
and 46 kcal to walk on all fours.So...at what point do the researchers conclude that the chimp decides it is more efficient to stand up and walk? I think I am missing something.
Or is it just because humans use less energy....110lb humans....than the chimps?
The problem here is that the researchers start out with a false premise....humans come from apes, chimps, monkeys, whatever.
It is pretty hard to come up with the right conculsion if you start out on the wrong foot...even if there are four of them.
