A rattlesnake spotted some fresh meat when a 1-year old boy was splashing his hands in a birdbath.
The snake lunged for the little tike...but...a five pound (2.3kg) chihuahua named Zoey (like the president's daughter) jumped in the way and took the bites.
Awesome!
Not only did the little dog protect its charge, it was faster than the rattlesnake.
The dog yelped and the boy's grandfather came to the rescue.
Fighting for survival, the dog was taken to a vet for treatment...where, in the end it did indeed make it.
Great story, eh?
How many people would take a Chihuahua over a
German Shepherd or a Boxer or a Black Labrador when it came to protecting their little ones?Maybe the little fellow will get some warranted attention now.
