They don't call it cram school for nothing.
When Japanese fail their college entrance exams they will sometimes/often spend a year or two or three, depending on mom and dad's budget studying for the exam again for the following year.
The idea, of course, is to cram as much into the brain in one year as should have been crammed in during the regular school years plus whatever it might take to pass the test.
It can be intense...especially when test times roll
around. It's worse when you have a sister who nags you, "You just want to be like mom and dad and can't do it."
The 22-year old wannabe dentist heard such things from his 20-year old little sis, so he silenced her. He drowned her and perhaps thinking that like in most horror films she'll come back one more time, he took a knife and saw to her and cut up the body.
Yup, that would shut her up.
When asked if the charges were true, the boy responded -
"I don't think there are any mistakes" in the indictment.
Next time you see someone studying for a test, be sure to ask them real gently, "How're things going?"
