It's coming..."Midnight Madness" will be here at one minute past midnight this Friday night - British Summer Time.
J.K Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will go on sale this Friday evening.
My son who works at Borders tells me some of the 12 million books that have been printed just for the US market are already in the store, under lock and key. He and his colleagues had to sign their lives away in order to stay on staff during this time.
At midnight, people will begin turning the 784-page book to learn the fate of Harry and the Hogwarts.![]()
My bet is some/many will read the book backwards. Last chapter first to see how it turns out and then start at the beginning to see how it unfolded. No?
Harry Potter, for good or for bad, and regardless of what Stephen King and John Irving have urged Rowling to do and NOT do, will go down in history for at least one thing....having the most people sleep in on a Saturday morning...or in my case, Sunday morning. It would take me ALL day Saturday, starting at midnight, until Sunday morning to read that much. Longer if I read ALL of the the first six volumes first (I haven't started yet.)
Rowling will have a midnight reading at London's Natural History Museum.
I will mark the midnight madness by sleeping through it...pretty much the same way I have welcomed Santa Claus and most New Year's for the past several decades.
Are you a Harry Potter fan?

if Borders have got their books under lock and key, luckt them. My bookstore here in East Malaysia tells me that the leather bound collectors' book will delivered to them late. Is this true? She tells me that the publisher is to be blamed.I hope someone can tell me if this is true!!
