A survey found that about 40% of China's best exam takers chose overseas universities for their postgraduate studies. Many of them stayed overseas.
These students (zhuangyuan) top contestants are the 'examples' for the younger upcoming students.
However, despite China's development in recent years, little is done to encourage them to study at home or
return once finished.Chinese students make up 14% of all international students - the highest in the world.
The top destinations:
1. United States
2. Britain
3. Japan
The top reasons:
1. handsome scholarships
2. better job prospects
3. more opportunities for further studies
Top exam performers, however, does NOT mean best student or most successful in career.
Still, China needs to do something to keep more of their best students at home.
How do you think they can do that?
