An elementary school in Colorado Springs has banned the game of tag from its hallowed school ground because children complained they were being harassed or chased against their will.
"Mommy! Mommy! He called me 'It'."
Uh, I think that's the point of the game. But, what do I know?
The assistant principal said the game "causes a lot of
conflict on the playground."
Running games are still permitted as long as students don't chase each other or run next to each other to see who is faster (too much damage to the self-image of the loser) or run into each other or...
"TWWEEEETTT!!"
"Okay, everybody to their spot! Now close your eyes and run in a circle!"
"Isn't this fun?"
So, where and when do kids learn to confront conflict and overcome it?
Not at Discovery Canyon Campus school.
