I had never heard of Flugtag until today.
Flugtag has been around since 1991, and I have had my head buried for most of that time apparently.
Flugtag is an event in which competitors attempt to fly in homemade flying machines.
The contestants usually fly off a 30 foot pier and directly into the sea.
Everyone gets a good laugh and hopefully nobody gets hurt.
I seem to remember now seeing something like this on Japanese television way back when...on a 'bloopers' show maybe.
What I am wondering here at TBOK is, "Where are all the university engineering departments?"
Why isn't a Cal Berkeley or a Stanford or a Caltech involved in this and trying to lay claim to being the best Flugtagging center in academics?
Maybe Red Bull has asked them to stay away.
I mean how much fun would it be if the things actually flew?
