I think if Weeks beat Bynum as severely as the news reports have depicted, then she was more than right to file charges against him and it would have been foolish for her not to. The verse which you quoted is admonishing overly litigious folks and is actually accompanied in my bible by the heading "Do not sue the brethren." I agree that this incident has brought shame on the church but the only people who will ever know the complete details of what happened are Bynum and Weeks. One cannot be blamed for the actions of another but we can take measures to protect ourselves from further harm.

My point is not that Weeks shouldn't be charged/imprisoned whatever....but,
as you mentioned, shame has been brought to the church.

I am really disgusted by the fact that this man is now using his website to solicit money "during this difficult time." So now the church folks should pay for his legal defense fund? Give me a break!

I also don't understand the comments on many blogs from folks claiming that people should support the Bishop and how no charges should be filed against him and they should work this out with God. Where in the Bible does it say that we should condone abuse and protect abusers? People criticized the Catholic church when the heads of the church covered up and failed to take any action against the priests who were sodomizing and raping children. I really don't see much difference here and fail to understand the rationalization of why we choose to protect these sick people who defile God's house and violate his children.

First I'd like to say I am truly devastated for both of them. They are children of God and need the church family to gather and pray for them. This is a very difficult time. Nonetheless God can and will work it out if they allow Him.

Secondly......

A criminal offence has been committed here. Wife beating is a violation of the law of the land. She was right to press charges especially if she feared for her life. In fact she owes it to herself and woman all around the world who go through this IHMO. Where in the bible does it say husbands beat your wives....nowhere... The bible does say however the wages of sin is death (not physical death necessarily, but spiritual death at all times) God is forgiving but there is a process that you have to go through before you can receive your deliverance and there are consequences. (God is not mocked we reap what we sow) I am gutted for both of them I truly am, and yes it does not look good for the church but no one has the right to judge. If people reject Jesus because of this, they will have to pay the consequences. (Harsh but true) Each and everyone of us has to answer to God individually. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin past present and future. Why future because God knew that as long as we are in this body we will still mess up. It is easy to shine a torch over this incident singling it out. But we all have to ask ourselves if we are truly shining a light for Jesus before men and most importantly before God. God doesn't put sin into class....

Yes God can deliver heal and reconcile but how willing/quick our we to come in line with his word and surrender to allow Him to do this.

I judge neither parties, in fact this could have happened to anyone. Christians especially leaders of successful ministries are NOT above temptation. There is no special anointing to help you to resist. The higher you go the more the devil will try and bring you down. We are spiritual but we are human as well. This is devastating, but at the same time an opportunity for God to work it out in a mighty way that He alone will be glorified.

I pray both of them will be fully restored and that they hear God on how they progress from here.

So much to make of this. Not to much surprise. They say her husband is gay. WOW!!! I take a look at this from a spiritual perspective, even as some who even quotes scriptures say they do. COME ON!!! What an irony because of the lies to manipulate God’s people of their high spirituality because of the special “ANOINTING” they possess. We need to discern, again the simple matters of scriptures so to deem such lifestyles as sadly laughable. Something to say about their salvation as well. Paul had a salvation testimony that he met Christ on the road to Damascus. The thousands at Pentacost knew Jesus as their Savior because of the truth the Holy Ghost revealed to them about Christ. I knew Jesus, personally when in a Bible Study Class, the text was taught me from the passage in Gal 3:1 “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” It really hit me so hard, like Paul’s fall of the horse, that I was being bewitched cause I believed that I had to work to be and stay saved. Paul had preached the gospel to these Galations and the Judizers tried to distort their beliefs by telling them that they must keep the law to prove / keep their salvation. Not So says Paul. This truth gave me the freedom to live my life for Christ as I now knew that Chirst did it all for me. Question…Can any of you do more for God than what God has done for you? God has done it all. Believe that and you are one of his anointed. Mr. Weeks and Ms. Bynum…No true salvation…Expect things for the flesh to take place. All…Make sure that your salvation is pure and true. Just read the Bible and believe what John says Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. …SIMPLE..SO SIMPLE…Don’t go after an anointing. God doesn’t need us to have more faith. He wants us to be more FAITHFUL. HARD at times, BUT SIMPLE…
We need to know his WORD, PRAYER, and HIS PEOPLE. And for anyone who wants to use this Jaunita Bynum experience as a reason not to want to got to church…Anyone who want to say I'm judging...BEWARE lest you suffer because of your rejection of GOD’s CALLING… SIMPLY BEWARE… No EXCUSES, NO EXCUSES!!!

I pray for my sister Juanita that God will sustain her in this difficult time. That she will NOT drop the charges as so many battered women do. The Bishop needs some help mainly some deliverance not just a touch but deliverance that only God can give. What an AWESOME women on the front line conference and then the devil start his mess. Never mind the rumors of him being gay I have heard those for years even before she married him.There is never a just cause to hit a female it does not matter what she said or did. I pray that if this was the first time that he has abused her I pray it will be the last because if she reconciles he will do it again. I hope she moves on with her life all she need is God he will see her through. I dont know her husband but I have followed her life way back from her years in the COGIC and I know God has taken this young woman to a whole new level. I read some of the post and I just want to remind people that ministers are people and they have the same flaws and feelings that we all have... None of us are with out sin so we need to refrain from casting stones. We should be praying for both of them... "the prayers of the righteous availeth much." Perhaps this is just as much of a test for us as it is for them. How do we, as people (saved and unsaved) handle sensative issues?
Do we kick people when they're down or do we love people back to health. God's perfect message will always be delivered by imperfect messengers. (Ex. Paul, David, Abraham, Peter)
This incident is not going to have a grave affect on the "true and living church" and it's not going to turn the world away from church doors. As a matter of fact, people who weren't even thinking about the church are thinking about it today. People are seeking God in this hour, not men, and even when men fall the Holy Spirit is lifted up.
It's also important to note that Juanita Bynum was spiritually, mentally and physically abused the other night and we shouldn't add insult to injury. It's a shame that people seem to be enjoying the fact that she got knocked down, but mark my words her ministry is going to grow as a result of this... Millions of women are abused everyday and now she's a living testimony that they can relate too. God knows what He's doing!!!

I have always said that God has his ways of revealing the truth and the false ministries. Most ministers hide behind the word of God, while living and flaunting the material ways of the world. Mansions, private jets, blood diamond jewelry, fancy cars, million dollar weddings, and body guards, etc, etc. Without naming names, these televangelists are always profiting. I am speculating that this assault was driven by money and greed, the new American way.

What about the humble servants of God? I am sure that if we were to tally up all the fortunes that these ministries are gaining at the expense of the congregations, I am sure it would be in the thousands of billions. Are these churches doing enough in their communities? I think not, poverty and homelessness are still on the rise.

I am not condoning the assault, but there is always three sides to a story, in this case, his, hers and the truth. God is sending out a message to His church and we need to open our eyes to these business ministries and televangelists that are driven by power, money and greed. The truth will always come to light. God is watching and judging, always.

I don't understand your questioning of Dr Bynum's Christian credentials. Since when does being a victim of a vicious attack not make you a Christian?

As for charging the man, that might the most Christian thing Dr. Bynum can do. She is making him accountable for his actions and since men who react this way usually have a history of getting away with violent behaviour, maybe he will have time to face his actions BEHIND BARS.

Kimberlee, you are ABSOLUTELY correct! How appalling that the Bishop's website is soliciting financial support. Unbelievable! Also, not judging their situation and tragedy of this all but the Bishop definitely appears to have a spirit of homosexuality about him. It's quite obvious, in my opinion. As stated many, many times already, only prayer will soothe this situation for all parties involved. However, as a MAN of God, the Bishop has now been exposed, revealed of the struggles he's been having, apparently, and has failed or refused to deal with. True repentance is necessary at this point and I believe that if he had taken that stance earlier, his secrets and struggles would have remained under wrap, God would not have exposed him in this fashion.

Hey if we are Christians why all the mess on here and other blogs. Why aren't we praying for them both. Where did all this other gossip and rumor about him being gay come from and why is it being perpetuated without evidence. Come on yall this event hurt my heart enough, but the way Christians kill and mame there own is sad. I have been reading all the postings and it seems as though people are being very judgmental towards people that they don't even know. It seems as though all the world thinks about is what type of lifestyle that they are living. The people that are not christians think that the people of the church as to live in poverty and that they should be the only one living in nice homes, drive nice cars and be able to do anything thing that they want to. Before anyone of you pass judgment one them first take a look at your own life. If you worry about what is wrong with you, then you won't have time to talk about someone else. They are just like we are with problems and sadly enough the world looks down on them for being humans. We should be praying for them instead of talking about them because they are both God's children even if you don't think so. People in the world need to take a hard look at their life and then ask themselves why do i chose to live this way?

Juanita Bynum did not call the police the Hotel Bellman did. The Bellman called the police and once they heard the report and saw the bruises they took her to the Hospital where Social workers filed a case for domestic abuse. The bellman also heard Weeks threaten to kill Juanita. The police take this very seriously. She did not turn her husband in. His sin came to light and I think it may have saved her life. God is still in control! The bible says we should look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. It does not matter what Preachers do! We follow Jesus!!! The bible says these things will happen. The law of sin is in our members (within us). If we were perfect Jesus would not have had to die on the cross. Once we confess our sins God forget them. So if they have confessed their sins to God then he forgave them and forgot it!

The world does not look down on these two frauds for being human. No, the folks who are critical of Bynum and Weeks look down on them for being very public hypocrites. If, Bynum and Weeks, in their individual and joint "ministries," are going to be offering advice on how to have a successful marriage (and charging a hefty fee to those attending their seminars), then it is not unreasonable to expect them to model what they preach. We all judge, and you better believe Christians do, too. When they screw up (as we all do), why are they any more deserving of a pass than the rest of humanity?

When something like this happens and these two are displayed before the whole world it is not unusual that those who question their theology would make their feelings known. I happen to be one of those. It is a shame that we have reached a place in the body of Christ where we pay more attention to how something is said rather then what is said. Does it make me a sinner becuase I question something that is in direct conflict with the bible? I say not, we should study the bible so we are not taken in by those who for their own gain and fame would come up with catchy slogans and phrases that are not consist with sound bible teachings. Do you want an example? Ms Bynum once said that when a male and female pray together that there is intercourse in the spirit. (She did this on TV so you can get the recording if you look for it.)That was a stupid thing to say because in "Christ there in neither male nor female." "Nevermind the blood monies she gives her staff. It is so obvious that these are false teachers. Read the book of JUDE to see the dimise and destruction of Weeks and Bynum. Much worse than the violence and the embarassment these two are suffering now. There is judgement awaiting them far worse than this. And for us to meagerly focus on the temporal and not the eternal is pure mockery in the eyes of GOD. And for all who say that all this is judgement, I reckon that JUDE was judging those he talked about in his book. There are some things tha God calls us to judge. There are several ladies ministries where women are serious about their pure calling to live day by day to be the PROVERBS 31 WOMAN. Women especially need to be protected by strong men who would give their lives for them. A man giving his life doen't always mean taking a bullet for her to be saved, but rather proctecing her from the evils of the doctrines of SATAN and the feminist doctrines, so that SHE WOULD NOT HAVE TO DIE SPIRITUALLY. Jaunita continue to choose to sprew out what she heard from the SERPANT with the lies she spilled about the TRINITY and her cover up for the material "blessings" she received by taking advantage of a lot of woman with itching ears. Whether Juantia is a minister, mother, or whatever occupation she may have chose. This does not give Weeks the right to abused or hurt the women in which God gave as a heplmate to love and honor as "the weaker vessel." Look, I am married to a minister of the Gospel and he has never raised his hand to hurt me, but him as a man, Weeks, should know his boundaries. Why curse what you have been bleesed too receive? The reason why I say this, because marriage is blessed in the eyesight of God. If the master wanted him to abused a women, he would not have given him a person of Bynums ability. Just because Juanita may have taken out charges on her husband that does not make her less of a Christian or a person. Legally, she has the right as a citizen to press, but as leader in the church GOD has final say. So, please people don't think that for one minute, she is not anointed, saved, and still walking in the holiness of God, because people and thier comments.

Faith and religion aside please:

A very successful woman marries a not so successful man who happens to be EIGHT years her junior. This is the makings for a disaster. Their union made no sense from the beginning. He had nothing to offer but his presence. He could not advance her life or add anything to it. In fact, she was using her noteriety to thrust him in the limelight. He is less than her. This has to eat a man up inside over time, especially an immature one. I have no idea whether he is gay or not but I do know he is a punk. Only a weak punk would resort to hitting a woman. Real men just roll and find them another woman to get with.

The abuse is no surprise given that at the beginning of their relationship they happily shared how they would get into heated debates. (They planned to purchase the table at Starbucks where they used to argue! How cute...Not!) It had to be an easy leap from verbal to physical. I doubt this is the first time he has hit her. He did it with such precision (something that would only come with practice.)

He is "very sad" and hopes to reconcile. What? She is saying "this too shall pass." What? Never mind all that, she should prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. He should confess and step down from his ministry immediately.

I am a Christian and I have absolutely no pity for either of them. I would like them both to do me a favor. Please, please, please do not reconcile and don't let "it" pass. Get a very, very quick divorce and get out of sight. Handle this very swiftly. And if by chance, they feel that getting back together would lend some deeper level of credibility to their "Teach Me How To Love" series, they couldn't be any further from the truth. I don't want to hear either one of them preach again, let alone talk about love and marriage.

I must say that I'm very sadden to hear this news about such influential people, namely juanita bynum.. But I must say, I seen something coming with prophetess bynum , I just didn't know what it was.. It was obvious to me when watching her on tv, a few months ago that something was wrong.. i was noticing certain enuendos that she was making and believe me i I was readin between the lines.. Just this pass couple of weeks watching the womens conference, I was grieved in my spirit, I said Lord I'm sensing something here and I don;t know what it is, the spirit was just leading me to pray for Prophetess bynum. and I've been praying every sense.. One thing we can be assure of is that this is only the beginning.. My heart and pryers go out to the weeks and no, I'm not going to judge because I don;'t know the circumstances, the only thing I don't agree with is a man putting his hands on his wife, especially in public.. The LORD IS GETTING READY TO EXPOSE ALOT OF THINGS AND NOT JUST WITH THE WEEKS..

I agree, this is a god thing point blank.. like I wrote earlier I won't make judgements on either point, just my disillusion with what bishop weeks did.. I'm in a state of mourning and grief and the mere fact alone that this is not just the enemies attack but God is exposing will will contiue to exposed these celebrity christian leaders who are responsible for the leader ship of his people.. Prayer is the only thing that will remedy this.. I contiue to pray for bishop and prophetess Bynum , that they along with the church can get through this by the power of God and that the church as a whole will get through it.. The word saids that when and if bishop weeks even prophetess Bynum were to confess and ask for forgiveness, we as christian are to restore them with Love and meekness.. If bishop weeks was to ask for forgiveness we as saints must forgive and restore.. But he first need to ask not only God's forgiveness but his wifes..I pray this will take place so that Healing can began for all involved..

Excuse me! Somewhere I have missed the trial and conviction of Bishop Weeks. I haven't been able to find 1 quote from the bellman. What ever happened to, "In all thy ways acknowledge HIM and HE shall direct your path! Why are so many people giving this couple instructions, advice, and spirit of division? What ever they do is ultimatey between them and GOD! It's just sad that we aren't praying!!

I have been sensing something wrong for months in my spirit and I have been led to pray ever sense, and I have been, God knew this thing was going to happen.. It's sad that we want to throw stones so quickly with this divide and conquer attitude I'm seeing.. Prayer is what they need and only God knows what to do.. this is between the Weeks and God.. We as christians need only keep them up before GOD in prayer and quit judging, because the word says that whatever judgment we judge it will ultimately be judge right back to us.. So lets be careful.

I say this kindly, of course. Though the "trial and conviction" of Bishop Weeks has not yet occurred and although he has not openly admitted to having directly done this, his wife pressed charges against HIM; the police arrested HIM, the courts arraigned HIM; and it is a very safe bet that HE is guilty of the crime. If he did not do this, wouldn't he be by her side (despite marital issues) to support her as police determine who could have done it? So we shouldn't be coy. It is obvious that he choked, stomped and kicked her. This is a domestic violence case and he is the perpertrator regardless of any justification he would like to offer (two sides to every story..blah blah blah). As for the bellman, he would be one to corroborate but the real evidence is presented by Prophetess Bynum. Her wounds speak volumes.

As for judging him, due process will handle that. And as for offering opinions as to what they should do, it is only fair. They took it upon themselves to offer advice to the rest of us couples on how we should learn to love each other. They weren't married but a heartbeat but felt that they had the wherewithal to address marriage. So a fair exchange is truly no robbery. Really, I could tell them what they should do but first they'll need to buy my book and attend my conference, "Teach Me How To Get Out of A Mess!"

I really would like to offer a prayer or two for them but I have a friend that is really sick and I think she needs my prayers more than they do. Honestly, this distractive situation has diverted more than enough attention. I'm certain after it's all said and done, it will have resulted in yet another opportunity that be capitalized off of.

Pray for governments, and leaders they are not above the law but are juduged by the same laws as you and I yet more severe; TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN MUCH IS REQUIRED. Why do we judge people so quickly? Oh, just because they are on national television? People act like their lives are so perfect. No one is perfect no matter how Christian you claim to be, or what position in church you hold. Just because their lives are in the spotlight does not mean that we can judge them the way they are being judged.They are humans to. No matter what anyone says we are supposed to pray for our brothers and sisters when they are in trouble or have a need. People who claim to be Christians are talking about them badly, that is a sin also. What God do you serve? The one I serve is a loving and Almighty God; He heals the hurt and the broken... No, I don't approve of Bishops actions, but God will forgive him to. The devil is trying to attack the mega ministries, if we pray and seek God's face for each other, the devil will have to see who he is working against. I just want to ask you so call christians folks how can a true person of god take these poor people money, and throw a wedding so big. Some people give their hard earned money to the church for them to help others. But they take it and spend it foolishly. What a shame! Before everyone start to judge them, you need to take a look at your own lives. It is very easy to pass judgment on someone else especially when your own life may be just as questionable. These are God's children and there is nothing that anyone can do to change that. His age has nothing to do with who he is as a man, how do any of you know whether God joined them together? It really puzzles me how UNSAVED or NONCHRISTIANS can so easily judge TRUE CHRISTIANS. How is it that you put yourself in the place of GOD? All of this energy that you are wasting judging, slandering, and persecuting GOD'S children, it would be very advantagious of you to channel that energy into working on YOUR OWN SOUL SALVATION! This tragic occurence for them is no different or worse than many things we all have experienced, are experiencing, and/or will experience in life, theirs just happens to be nationally publicized. Imagine for a moment if GOD decided to put all of your TRASH on the national circuit. What then? I'll tell you what then. Then the whole country would know that you beat your wife/husband, you have a wife and a BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND, you've had multiple abortions, you've participated in many extramarital sexual relationships, you have a Jezebel spirit, you struggle with infidelity, homosexuality, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, demonic possession, so forth and so on. The list goes on and on for us all! I truly believe that people who are so quick to judge others, whether their Christians or not, do so because for that moment or those moments, the focus is taken off of them and all of their MESS! It makes them feel good to know that someone else is going through similar or seemingly worse situations than them. But, God is NOT in that at all! God has not called us to beat anyone down, EVER! And to judge whether their Christians or not, that's simply FOOLISH AND IT REFLECTS EITHER YOUR LACK OF JESUS IN YOUR HEART OR MAJOR SPIRITUAL IMMATURITY! As someone stated earlier, this does not change the fact that they are still Christians and that God is STILL going to continue to use their EARTHEN VESSESLS TO MINISTER HIS HOLY WORD!!!!! It's all very sad. One of the fruit of the spirit that we say dwell on the inside of us is "temperance". It has to operate (if we allow it) in every area of our lives. If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners. We are the only light that represent Jesus on this earth, so we need to act like Jesus. Some people will never come to man-maded Church building, but your light your temple your church, your self is the body of Christ. They will see Jesus only in you by your action, not only in words. We need to be careful. 2 Timothy 3 - The dangers of the last days - read it. We need to live to please God. Final Advice - 1 Corinthians - Chapter 1, 2 and 3 talked about putting people over God. No,Bishop Weeks did not do the right thing, but he is still worthy of God's love and needs deliverance- just like others do too.
No one, no matter who they are, is perfect. Your husband did not make the right choice and God will deal w/ him in His way. No matter how embarrassing this is, know that it is not your fault. Even if people all over the country are talking about this, God is still in control. You are still His Princess. I'm glad you did not do anything to stoop to such level as violence.

Chris. I am so ashamed of those who claim to be men and women of God. Although Weeks certainly had no right to put his hands on this sista, there are two sides to every story. The world may never know what really happened, but it is up to God to judge them both. It would be so gratifying if they would take this incident, forgive each other, reconcile and make a great comeback. I believe in forgiveness, but both would have to surrender to God and rid themselves of egos.

If there be any among you without any sin, cast the first stone. Juanita and Thomas are human just like me. The last time I checked I had to use my eraser when I wrote with a pencil. Meaning they are entitled to mistakes just as I am. I have no reason to judge them because the bible states that we are to judge ourselves so that God doesn't. What Juanita and Thomas does is not my business nor do I care. It is not my business.

I don't have to stand before the bar of judgement for Juanita, Thomas, Tammy-Faye, Jim, Paula, Randy, TD or anyone else. Not even my kids. I have to stand and give an account for what I have done. I notice the churches are full of people. But when I am out and about I find it very hard to see what they've learned or represent as far as God is concerned. How many would leave feeling ashamed for being seen in such a place?

It's easy to sit and say uh huh or ummmm when I am not the one in the spot light. I am of the opinion that "christians" are the most two-faced individuals on the face of the earth. When they are in chruch they portray themselves as caring and concerned people, wanting and willing to help. But these are the same people that will blow your head off at a traffic light, run you up a tree if you cut them off on the freeway, break into your house and take everything you have worked your butt off to get, keep the crack house in business, keep the liquor store in business, keep the rehab center in business, keep the street walkers in business, molest innocent children, cheat on their spouses etc..

Hell, they're your mom, dad, grandma, grandfather, aunt, uncle, cousin, brother, sister, co-worker, best friend, teachers, & neighbor.

I DARE each and every one of you to be as direct with them when they miss the mark as you are so willing to be on the Juanita & Thomas Weeks issue! Oh and whenever any of you miss the mark, go stand in front of the mirror and ask yourself how you can improve as a "christian".

It amazes me the state of the church to ever be so concerned about how this Weeks/Bynum incident will leave a dark spot on Church. Despite the fact that in Christ's own words "the gates of hell will not prevail against her (the church)" and that one day "he's coming back for his bride", a bride without a spot or wrinkle. These are Christ's words about the body, yet you professing Christians whine in fear about "how this is going to look so bad for the church". People because of their sinful nature, will always ensue a dark spot on the church, not because of the church but because of their sinful hearts. People because of their depravity, crucified God when He absolutely did no wrong. I wonder about those who are so concerned about the blackened hearts of sinful people. Maybe your hearts are like theirs as you can only cry and whimper, instead of being strong and faithful to what God says about the body. We should have an answer for the world, strong enough to convince and convict them. But what do we do? We shutter about our image for fear that we can not evangelize to reach them. All because two idiots uses Christ's name in vain, covered with an anointing and spirituality that breed greed and a deceptive influence on thousands of people who perfer to listen to their lies rather than study to show themselves to be approved. What you see and what you get is what you become. BEWARE lest you become like them and emulate in similar ways your need for greed, selfish desires, manipulation and neglect of others. What an opportunity to preach to the world of that which is true and that which is false. What an opportunity to tell those who "look down on the church" of the GOD in three Persons - the TRINITY in whom Jaunita does not believe in. "Silver and Gold have I none, but such I have I give unto you." A gift more valuable that the million dollars spent on Jaunita's wedding and all their assets combined. I'm quite sure that Jaunita and Weeks have has so much prayers lifted up for them by these false believers. This is not going to cut it. The true believer's resposnse is to use prayer and the Spirit of God within him to tell them they are lost and lead them to true salvation, and to share the Gospel to those who wuold ridicule the church of their need for Christ in their lives and not to follow false teachers like Weeks and Bynum.

From the KJV Study Bible: The Christian is not to judge hypocritically or self-righteously, as can be seen from the context (v.5) The same thought, is expressed in 23:13-39 ( cf. Rom 2:1). To obey Christ's commands in this chapter, we must first evaluate a person's character--whether he is a "dog" (v.6)or a false prophet (v.15) or whether his life shows fruit(v.16). Scripture repeatedly exhorts believers to evaluate carefully and choose between good and bad people and things (sexually immoral, 1 Cor 5:9; those who masquerade as angels of light, 2 Cor 11:14 dogs, Phil 3:2,false prophets, 1 John 4:1).The Christian is to "prove all things" (1 Thes 5:21)

I pray that God in Jesus Name will give us wisdom, and knowledge to understand what this scripture really means! We must be wise because we are living in the Last Days! Jesus is coming back. By God's Grace let us be ready! I say this for myself also!

The bottom line is that there is no justification for what the Bishop did. Period. There is no scripture that would justify or support these actions even if the perpetrator does wear the title "bishop." Yes it is true that as imperfect creators we all make mistakes and are subject to misjudgment. However, it also appears that this is not a one time or isolated incident. You can best believe that this has happened before; the only difference this time is that it went beyond "closed doors."

First, it is very unusual for a man who has never engaged in a previous domestic violence situation to suddenly elevate from anger to the level of viciousness that "Bishop" exhibited in one so-called isolated incidence of rage. Creative placement and use of scripture does not automatically exonerate or excuse Bishop Weeks's actions. Nor does it rationalize the startling series of events that dishonored us all (Christians and Non-Christians alike). No matter how you look at it, it never should have happened. Scriptures are placed in the bible for the purpose of learning and establishing a better relationship with our heavenly father. They were never intended to defend behavior that dishonors and devalues. Let us not lose sight of the real issue. This is not a contest of who can quote and manipulate the most scriptures. This is about real people who obviously God's love and intervention. Along with our prayers and some serious counseling.

Pastors' wives are abused everday. The only reason we know about his one is the fact that they are famous. Fame can not fix character flaws and by no means does this act mean that they are not saved. Juanita Bynum, the bell hop who pulled him off of her and any other witnesses present would have been DEAD WRONG not to call the police and report what happened. He choked, kicked, and STOMPED her into the ground!! He also threatened to kill her!! What are we saying as Christians?? That because he is a church "leader" that he should not be reported?? Isn't that what happpened in the Catholic Church sex abuse cases?? If priests who were abusing children had been reported years ago, other kids could have been saved from them. If this man is not held accountable, who knows what will happen later, either to her, or his next woman (if he has another one after her). Juanita Bynum should not be expected to be silent in order to protect the "image" of the church. I have read that Mr. Weeks has been married before. Wonder what happened to that wife?? Abusers don't JUST START with this kind of attack. He has probably done this before and gotten away with it.

I am curious as to whether those who have submitted such judgemental remarks are without sin? Many of you are the same people who shout in church and curse your wives and husbands out at home,lead prayer ministries and watch pornography,preach in the pulpit and have lustful thoughts, steal, kill, and destroy (and it doesn't have to be physically; we can harm anothers spirit which is just as bad.) Shame has not been brought to the church. Just because you are a Christian does not mean that your life will be perfect everyday. None of us were there when this situation took place. It amazes me the state of the church to ever be so concerned about how this Weeks/Bynum incident will leave a dark spot on Church. Despite the fact that in Christ's own words "the gates of hell will not prevail against her (the church)" and that one day "he's coming back for his bride", a bride without a spot or wrinkle. These are Christ's words about the body, yet you professing Christians whine in fear about "how this is going to look so bad for the church". People because of their sinful nature, will always ensue a dark spot on the church, not because of the church but because of their sinful hearts. People because of their depravity, crucified God when He absolutely did no wrong. I wonder about those who are so concerned about the blackened hearts of sinful people. Maybe your hearts are like theirs as you can only cry and whimper, instead of being strong and faithful to what God says about the body. We should have an answer for the world, strong enough to convince and convict them. But what do we do? We shutter about our image for fear that we can not evangelize to reach them. All because two idiots uses Christ's name in vain, covered with an anointing and spirituality that breed greed and a deceptive influence on thousands of people who prefer to listen to their lies rather than study to show themselves to be approved. What you see and what you get is what you become. BEWARE lest you become like them and emulate in similar ways your need for greed, selfish desires, manipulation and neglect of others. What an opportunity to preach to the world of that which is true and that which is false. What an opportunity to tell those who "look down on the church" of the GOD in three Persons - the TRINITY in whom Jaunita does not believe in. I'm quite sure that Jaunita and Weeks have has so much prayers lifted up for them by these false believers. This is not going to cut it. The true believer's response is to use prayer and the Spirit of God within him to tell them they are lost and lead them to true salvation, and to share the Gospel to those who would ridicule the church of their need for Christ in their lives and not to follow false teachers like Weeks and Bynum.

Let's go back to Salvation 101. When I heard this on August 23 around 7:30 AM I immediately thought that the media was just going to eat this one up. But look at some of us "SAVED" individuals. If we "Christians" would continuously remind ourselves that we are a part of one body, Romans 12:5 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=52&chapter=12&verse=5&version=31&context=verse) and when a part of the body hurts all should hurt. This is definitely not a situation that Bishop and Juanita Weeks' past (events before this happen) should be bought the light. This is just another situation where we as people put others too high. We should look at the God in them and not the person when. Everyone here on earth is still in their flesh. Being in our flesh we are still prone to sin which was why God created a way (Jesus shedding blood) for us to be reconciled back to Him if we do sin. Bishop Weeks sin was just noticed publicly. So what did you do yesterday or just with in the last hour or two you should have confessed and ask God forgiveness? Don't really now why but when someone on their caliber does something wrong the first thing we want to do is throw a stone or/and start gossiping and it is broad cast to the nations. It is my prayer that Bishop and Juanita Weeks reconcile and show the devil he will not prevail so he can shut up. And for our weak christians that are reading these that they aren't easily turned away from their faith becasue of some of the negative comments here and by what has happen. As for the more educated in the faith "Rams," lets check ourselves before we start to thowing stones. And no, I not defending what he did but Christ blood was sheaded for sin, wether he had an immorial thought or murdered someone. Let come together as one body and pray for their marriage and that they might be able to get to the root of what happen since they did stand before God and entered into a covenant relationship.

Sometimes we who have a work to do for the Lord can get so busy that we often forget to take time with each other. This can be positive if we see that while we are working for the Lord to judge ourselves so that he won't judge us. Everyone knows when we let God judge us. When a coflict arise stop and take care of it make sure it's over. Women in the ministry must realize that even though you are called to the work you still come under the scriptures of how one should conduct oneselve as a wife. Man has an obligation to his wife and being in the ministry doesn't mean to demand your rights as a man neither should the woman demand her rights. When you demand your way you are selfish because you are not thinking of the people you have already reach. Take a break get away and seek advice. Remember you are not in this for you, you are a vessel for the Lord to edify the body of Christ. It is important that you not forget that God does answer prayer and He is a rewarder to them that seek him. He can fix the problem. To say He can't is to deny His power. This is the result of a lot of resentment somewhere down the road that was not corrected and eventually erupted. When both people are in the ministry they should take time to include each other. Most men do not like the back seat. It takes a very special man to be like Joseph was in the Bible. Mary was out front and sometimes that is not popular in a man's world even those in the church. Women have to remember to lift him up and not keep him in the background. When you first learn his feeling about this nip it in the bud praise him lift him up. The good that can come out of this is Jaunita and her Husband need to seek Godly counseling and start their ministry for people in position who need to stop and take time with each other and how to include everything into the work of God and a marriage. Just for the record, Juanita didn't file charges, it was the staff at the hospital. The same way you found the scriptures to defend your article you should have taken the time find one about judging others. I'm a babe in christ, what I'm saying is every morning I enjoy watching juanita bynum on television. she always seems to say what I want to hear, but as i watch the show the more I became dissatisfied about her. One week she had her little nephew on the show,and i saw her snapped a time or two and i told my daughter it's something about this lady that's not right. then on a different day she got on television very irritated about the cameraman or the producer told her it was something she didn't say to the audience ,she also snapped and tried to be sarcastic about it , stating I've said it already but they said i didn't so i'm going to say it again.my thing is i'm a babe in christ and i have more control of my tongue than juanita bynum. i'm in no shape to judge anyone but i do know when a person don't have full control of their tongue especially a prophet like herself.it is what it is.mr thomas weeks seems like me and him are on the same page, which is we haven't been deliver from the negative sins we have been hiding for years.

What people must understand and never forget, Juanita and Thomas are HUMAN-first and TV evangelist second. In essence, WE all fall short and are NOT free of sin. GOD is infallible we are not! Eunice, the hospital staff has no authority to file and charges, they can only report what has come the ER. How can the hospital know what happened to JB when they were not there? Bishop Weeks and Prophetess have been having "battles" from day one. This is just the one that came out. Yes, they are both good ministers that are normal people with daily problems (greater pressures and problems) than you or I. I too am a christian who has heard JB preach many, many, many times as well as Pastor Weeks. 1)This didn't just start overnight. He's been beating her...& from what I read, this isn't the first man that whooped her tail. Look at the lives of John the Baptist - Prophet who wore animal skins, ate honey & locusts & lived in the woods. Elijah - A man who was sought to be killed & died out in the wilderness & not on an inhertitance of land with cattle & other livestock of which the rich had in those days as a signal of wealth. Then Moses, who lived in the wilderness 40 years with his people & who died without FINANCIAL PROSPERITY but was rich in spirituality...& yes hes was living as the son of a princess in egypt but when the lord called him he had to give all that up for a life of meekness. This names just a few instances of prophets lives. Then what prophet have you read about that stood on the mountain tops & declared THEMSELVES as such? She proclaimed herself a prophetess. Like Jesus told his apostles "dont be like the Pharasees & Pray out loud in the market square as to gain noteriety from men that you may gain glory for yourself." The bible also says be a faithful & DISCREET slave. She on the other hand along with her husband have been on stage under the bright lights of this ungodly system of media for the sake of the almighty dollar. How discreet is that?

3) If you keep living as a false prophet & keep using Jehovah, Jesus Christ & the Holy Ghost for vain purposes the Father will exact his revenge.

We are living in the last days,and Lord says do not be shocked or anxious. There is no perfect marriage even among Christians.

1.) A man is brutally beating his wife. God has established the civil law and this man has broken the law, therefore he ought to answer to the court. I think it is really telling how many blogs i have read which have attempted to blame the victim of this attack. One woman said while she feels for both parties, she feels mostly upset for Weeks because the devil was working through him.

Well If you're not judging, then Why do you give others reason to? I can remember debating people a few years ago when Bynum got married to Weeks. I brought to their attention that Bynum had a relationship with Weeks while he was still married to his previous wife & how they both are guilty of adultery according the the words of Jesus Christ spoken in the Bible. I watch as some of thse preist abuse little kids mess up their lives and what do we say do not judge.We watch as some lie and steal and what do we say do not judge.We watch as religion all over the world has become has become a sword to kill those who dont believe in in their way of thinking what do we say dont judge.We watch as some people go in thse churches and feel so neglected even from some of you who profess to be so holy and we say "dont judge.
Some of you dont even talk to the people siting next to you in church everysunday, someof you do more backbiting in the church than who is outside.yet "we say dont judge"The bible is there for all to read and so really we dont have to say anything but if when we read it and see that the people preaching it dont go with what it is saying what are we to do?Who is it that do more judging than those folks who in church everysunday?As long as someone is not on the usher board,orjumping around that person you all look at thm like they are not saved.Many of you just come out a club on a saturday night in church sunday jumping up and down saying you got the holy ghost.Some of you know what you do in the dark saying you laying hands on people head, yet "we say dont judge"Some of you treat your family like dogs then run church sunday saying you speaking in tongues.Some of you following thse big time pastors all over the states, yet you cant go to the one in your own neighbourhood.
Why is it that we fail to correct things we see wrong?be not ignorant paul says.Why is it that we are so ready to push all the dirt under the rug, when we do that and lift that rug ten years later that dirt will still be there.Do we wash our hand like pilate and say i have nothing to do with it?Know one is saying we all all not humans and will make mistakes, some major, but it is the humily, that we want to see, humbleness.Many of you sayingGod telling you this and that, he not going to tell us anything that is not back up in his word.How many of you christians go to church just to show of your new outfit?How many of you out there sunday in church but during the week you are the devil.You preach adultry but the bible tell us even if we look at a woamn we and lust we sin.Many of you will condem those who are outside the church , but when the light is on you , you hide behind the bible and God saying touch not the annointing or god servant.The bible not only talk on adultry as most want you to believe, fornication,thefts,covetousnesswickedness, deciet. lasciviousness, evil eye,balsphemy. pride foolishness.So I say who is more judgemental more than you who sit up in church when you know in your heard you praise God with your lips but your heart is evil.So yes I have taken otu the beam in my eye and saying we cant keep on calling wrong right.For as the bible says by their fruits we shall know them.all of us we are know by our fruits to be christians you have to be christlike, that mean dont go againts what God has written in his holy word.

If you were in the real church of Jesus Christ Holy Ghost filled and fasting and praying you would know that we are to speak only what we have heard from God and we are not even allowed to open a bible to make judgments on anything or anybody unless we have heard a revelation about anything from God first!

Really who died and made you king or queen in charge of judgement.

Really if you did what I said or wrote about in my last paragraph! There would be no blog about this at all because none of us are qualified to judge I am spirit filled fire baptized an apostle according to that book and fast and pray regularly and still hear from God. But I am not the judge either!

And I know there is no unforgivable sin of the flesh or we would have to throw out grace period!

i don't judge nor can anyone else.the word of God judges.it's the double edged sword to in which we all are judged by and will be judged by now and before God.so as for all you that continue on this thing about judging the truth is you don't want anybody to call you out for you hypocrite behavior that you know is contrary to the word,and truly don't believe. the truth is you can help someone out when you get your house in order.you can not if you are doing the same thing or worse,and your faith is worthless without a knowledge of God's word..so stop the defensive nonsense..

The only people who talk negatively about Prophetess Juanita Bynum are those who profess Christianity (but are not Christians - they are phonies), and the non-Christians. Christians should not take to heart what they say because they are lost. We should pray for them for 'they know not what they do.' They know in their heart that Christians seek a better life in Jesus which causes us to reject a lot of worldly distractions. They look for imperfection in Christians. This, they feels, allows them to point a finger and say how bad a Christian is, but they overlook the three fingers pointing back at them saying 'you are worst'. If you put together all those bad mouthing non-Christians - including the phonies, Prophetess Juanita Bynum has more anointing in the tip of her baby toe nail then they have in their entire body. As I said before, Christians, pray for them!

all i can say is she was rihgt in what she did...i didnt have enough time to read all these comments as some are so infurating ,it is times like this that you see that you see that the church is in actual fact not one, how do you get your own fellow brethren judging you and condemning you...the Lord is in us yet we fail to se him in each other ...

Ms Bynum did good on her part on the other hand there could have been a loop hole that the devil was using to affect their lives so greatly...when they married she continued to use her fathers surname not Weeks now that in itself is a sinful act as we all know what the Bible says

The devil is really the ruler of this world.To those who see wrong and speak up good for you. To those who keep using the word dont judge,we dont have to make a comment by our own thought, but we read the word, If you dont practice what you preach you are a lier, I dont care who it is.If you are not preaching from the word of God, you are going with your own authority and that mean the holy spirit is not guiding you and that make you false.

And quoting a verse to death without follow up with other verses , is unwise. EXPECIALLY OUR GIFTED EVEGELIST JB, AS A WOMAN, IS NOT EASY TO BE ON THE FRONTLIN EXCEPT YOUR HUSBAND IS SOLIDLY BEHIND YOU LIKE THE PERSON OF "JOYCE MEYER" I LOVE THAT WOMAN SO MUCH AND I PRAY THAT GOD SHOULD FORGIVE ALL THOSE THAT CANNOT SEE BEYOND THE NATURAL, BUT CALL HER NAMES,FALSE, PROSTITUT AND CRITISIZ HER TEACHING.
