In an earlier post - US News America's Best Colleges 2008 - 8 Questions in Need of Answers I listed up 8 questions that were passed around to the business writers of the KnowMoreMedia network.
I'd like to take a stab at the questions one by one. Perhaps readers and visitors will share their answers.
7 - What does the future hold for the US News college ranking?
I reckon that US News has plenty of years left on their annual ranking
edition.Whether schools participate, agree, disagree or ignore the rankings they are, can I say, fun, to take a look at, to argue over, to discuss, to haggle about.
And, we Americans who like to think we are better, bigger, stronger, more, than anyone else want to have something we can point to and say "see!"
I may be wrong, it wouldn't be the first or last time, but I suppose that US News doesn't even care what the colleges, presidents or students think abou their rankings. What US News cares about is how many of the issues are sold and how many people come to their web site to take a look.
The rankings will be around as long as US News is around is my bet.
What do you think?
