Blackwater USA is a private security firm in Iraq that was started by a former Navy SEAL and employs about 1,000 people.
The company is one of hundreds of private secruity firms that employ 10's of thousands of security-minded employees.
The big difference - security firms working for the American government and its allies have immunity granted to them under an order issued in 2004 by L. Paul Bremer III, who was the adminstrator of Iraq at the time.
Reason 1 - Immunity can be defined as = not be held accountable for mistakes.
Blackwater USA provides security for US Ambassador Ryan Crocker and staff.
Iraq's Interior Ministry canceled the license of Blackwater USA.
When it was asked if Blackwater has stopped working - a US Embassy official replied - "Discussions are going on between us and the Iraqi authorities."
Reason 2 - their license was canceled but they keep at it, under the guise of negotiations. That's the American way....
"Huh?"
"You mean us?"
"You mean today?"
"Uh, which part are we talking about?"
....
Reasons 3 - 10 - Blackwater USA bodyguards have been charged with killing 8 civilians.
Why can't people do their job so well that lines can be seen clearly drawn and honored?
The Iraqi people do NOT want the American private security firms playing police without accountability.
How do I know?
Would you want it?
