Kung fu novelist Louis Cha Leung-yung, pen name Jin Young, gave 10 million yuan ($1.3 million) to the Beijing (Peiking) University's Chinese Guoxue Academy.
In 1993, he donated one million to establish the academy devoted to the study of traditional Chinese culture.
Louis Cha co-founded the Hong Kong daily newspaper, Ming Pao in 1959 and served as the paper's first and only editor-in-chief until 1993.
