There are two groups of students in China who want to come to the United States to study.
1. Very good students who cannot get into a famous Chinese university
2. Children of the wealthy
In four years, the number of Chinese taking the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) has grown 31-fold ...50 in 2003, 1,560 in 2007. A good SAT score is a big first step to getting into a good American school.
In the last two years, some 10,000 Chinese students opted to study in American
colleges and universities.
It seems to be getting easier, relatively, for Chinese students to get a student visa and a full scholarship in the US...making it still the most desirable destination for students who don't make it to a top rung school in China, and even for students who do.
America has a bus load of world-class universities and Chinese care a LOT about the name of a college.
What country would you like to study in besides your own?
