It's a huge leap for the communist country...to give awards for homosexuality studies, some may think.
Eight final prize winners presented papers on the topic:
1. Sociology
2. Mass Communications
3. Film reviews
4. law
The papers were to "help the majority of people to understand gays and lesbians better and contribute to a more tolerant social environment."
It is a sign of 'progress' that the contest could be held at all says Shanghai Daily.
Anti-gays would not see the event as progress but rather that old-man China was becoming more and more liberal...for good or for bad.
The gay lifestyle is worthy of style and tolerance is a good thing....
However, tolerance and acceptance are NOT the same.
How do you view homosexuality?
