The Michigan Wolverines were ranked number 5 before last weekend.
Appalachian State visited the Wolverine's Big House and knocked them out of the top 5, the top 10, the top 20, the rankings altogether.
Never before had a team tumbled so far...not since the rankings
expanded to include 25 teams in 1989. At least the WolverinesThe Wolverines became the first ranked team from Division I-A, to lose to a team from I-AA.
"Before Michigan's fall, Notre Dame held the record for largest drop in the rankings when the Fighting Irish dropped 16 spots -- from No. 9 to No. 25 after losing to Northwestern 17-15 on Sept. 3, 1995.
In 1959, Oklahoma, then ranked number 2 fell out of the rankings which only included 20 teams at the time.
A more important question, however, for Michigan is, that if they do NOT climb back up into the rankings -
"How much money will their athletic department lose this year?"
And...
"What affect will that have on future players, scholarships, teams....and such?"

Being a huge Ohio State fan, let's just say I wasn't too terribly upset when the Wolverines fell!
